Buying your own toilet? Use this installation checklist
Choosing your own toilet gives you control over the fixture. Confirm compatibility and the installation scope before making plans for the replacement.
Check compatibility before buying
Share the new toilet’s model and specifications with the installer. Ask whether it will work with your existing plumbing and available space. Keep the product details and packaging information available for that review.
Understand the installation price
Our listed toilet installation price is $249 for a standard installation. The toilet is not included. You supply the fixture, and the existing setup must be reviewed before the complete scope and final price are confirmed.
Confirm the small details
- Does the new fixture include all the components needed for your installation?
- Will any additional connection parts or plumbing repairs be needed?
- Is removal and haul-away of the old toilet included in the agreed scope?
- Who should you contact if questions arise after installation?
Make access easy
Keep the bathroom and the path to it accessible. Mention stairs, tight spaces and any existing leaks or visible damage when you submit your project details. Let the installer confirm any additional preparation for your situation.
Have your new fixture’s model, your address and a description of the current toilet ready. A scheduling request is a preferred date, not a confirmed appointment.
Ask before assuming
A standard replacement and a project involving existing plumbing repairs can have different scopes. Ask for the complete price and inclusions before work begins.
